You can find the basics about me via my LinkedIn profile. This site consists mostly of my opinions on marketing, branding, advertising, social media and related topics. And they are purely that: opinions generally unsupported by research or evidence, which incidentally are things that rarely have much to do with good marketing.
The concept of gradual change is important not just because I like the quotation from Hemingway that’s in my URL, but also because marketing’s an area full of hyperbolic pronouncements of immediate, groundbreaking change, which rarely turn out to be more than half true. I’m reactionary in the sense that I think consumer behaviour remains relatively constant, and is rarely defined by the new media with which consumers engage. But I also find what’s annoyingly referred to as social media marketing fascinating and significant; I’m just not sure that anyone has yet figured out how so.
I live in rainy Vancouver but I’m from the UK so I’m equipped with one of those annoying mid-Atlantic accents. The best way to reach me is via email: danieljgibbons[at]mac[dot]com.
